How to use JSON to CSV · guide, tips & FAQs
Convert JSON arrays into CSV with automatic headers, configurable delimiters, copy, and download. All processing stays in your browser.
What is JSON to CSV?
JSON to CSV converts a JSON array of objects or arrays into delimited rows directly in your browser. Object keys become column headers, missing values become empty cells, and nested objects or arrays are preserved as JSON strings inside a cell. Preview the result, copy it, or download a CSV or TSV file.
Your JSON stays in this browser tab. No server upload or account is required.
How to use JSON to CSV
- 1Paste a JSON array, or choose Sample to try the converter.
- 2Choose comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe as the delimiter.
- 3Review the output and row/column counts, then copy or download the result.
Examples
Object rows
Produces name and score headers followed by two data rows.
[{"name":"Alice","score":92},{"name":"Bob","score":87}]Tips & common mistakes
- Use a consistent row type: all objects or all arrays.
- Nested values remain JSON in one cell; they are not flattened into separate columns.
Who uses this tool?
- Exporting API response records into a spreadsheet.
- Preparing CSV fixtures from JSON datasets.
Frequently asked questions
- Which JSON formats are accepted?
- Arrays of objects or arrays of arrays. Mixed row types and primitive-only arrays are rejected.
- How are columns chosen?
- Object columns use the union of keys in first-seen order. Array rows have no generated header and are padded to the widest row.
- What happens to null and nested values?
- Null and missing values become empty cells. Nested arrays and objects are serialized as JSON strings, with CSV quoting applied.
- Are quotes and line breaks supported?
- Yes. Fields containing the chosen delimiter, quotes, carriage returns, or line feeds are quoted, and internal quotes are doubled.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. Conversion, copy, and download happen locally in the browser.
